AWLA - Maricopa Chapter is offering a great professional development opportunity for Maricopa Chapter members. For the third year, the Chapter will provide partial scholarships for up to four of our members to participate in Ladder Down. Ladder Down is the preeminent professional development program for women lawyers. Participants commit to a one-year program in which they will discover their strengths, hone their self-advancement skills, and make important career connections through monthly meetings. The scholarships will pay 50% of the annual Ladder Down tuition of $900 for up to four Chapter members. Applicants must be members in good standing of AWLA’s Maricopa Chapter and must commit to at least one year of active service on a Maricopa Chapter Committee.
To apply, please provide a letter of interest no later than November 30, 2016 and email it to awla.execadmin@gmail.com. DO NOT apply directly to Ladder Down if you are interested in applying for the scholarship. The Maricopa Chapter Executive Committee will review all applications and notify all applicants of the results of the review.
Your letter must include:
1. Three professional references (name and contact information at a minimum)
2. A detailed description of how Ladder Down will help you in your practice
3. Your activities within AWLA to date
4. An explanation of how you will “pay it forward” to AWLA through service on your selected committee and any other relevant contributions you may provide to our Chapter.
Please include your first and second preference for committee service and an explanation of your selection. AWLA, Maricopa Chapter has several standing committees from which you may choose: Membership, Judicial Appointments, Leadership Appointments, Luncheon, Professional Development, Wine and Cheese, Social. Further descriptions of the committees and their goals may be found on the AWLA website, under Maricopa Chapter.
