Registration is required before Monday, September 26, 2022 at 12:00 PM

Payment in Full In Advance Or At Event

In order to receive the pre-paid luncheon prices, you MUST pre-pay with your credit card on the website BY THE RSVP DEADLINE. DO NOT MAIL IN CHECKS.

If you make a reservation but do not pay on the website with your credit card, you must pay the total cost plus an additional $5 by check or cash at the door. Please see prices on the website.

If you cancel after the registration deadline, or do not show up for a luncheon for which you have registered and you have not paid, you will be billed at the "at the door" price. We pay for the number of meals we guarantee so we must collect the money from you.

Cancellation Policy:

We do not give refunds, but a member can receive a credit IF you prepay for the luncheon meeting and cancel BEFORE the registration deadline. After the registration deadline of NOON on the Friday before the luncheon meeting, we cannot provide you with a credit. We are required to guarantee the number of meals to the University Club, and we pay for those meals even if you must cancel after the registration deadline. Registration Deadline Extended to Monday, September 26, 2022 at Noon

Judge Viola and Commissioner Popham will have some hints on how to make your civil practice bench-friendly. They also want to encourage an open dialogue between the civil bench and practitioners, so come with questions! This event is open to anyone interested, men, women, members, non-members, attorneys, and staff. We will also have a QR code for attorneys to try, which will open the jury questionnaire that most prospective jurors receive before even getting to the courthouse.

Hon. Danielle Viola joined the Maricopa County Superior Court in 2011. She currently serves as the Civil Presiding Judge. Danielle previously served as the Arizona Tax Court Judge, the Associate Criminal Presiding Judge, and the Administrative Judge for the Post-Conviction Relief Unit. She is the immediate past chair of the Jury Advisory Committee for the Maricopa County Superior Court, and she currently serves on the Advisory Committee on the Rules of Evidence and the Court Interpreter Program Advisory Committee. Danielle also served as a member of the COVID-19 Continuity of Court Operations During a Public Health Emergency (“Plan B”) Workgroup. Before taking the bench, Danielle practiced in the area of commercial litigation at Snell & Wilmer LLP.

Hon. Gary L. Popham, Jr. is a Commissioner with the Arizona Superior Court, Maricopa County. Gary was appointed to the bench in December 2019 and is currently a Commissioner in the Civil Department. He obtained his Bachelor of Arts from the University of Arizona in 1997 and his Juris Doctorate from Syracuse University, College of Law in 2000. Between 2000 and 2019, Gary practiced law, beginning in New Jersey and then in Arizona, in the area of civil litigation with a primary focus in professional liability, governmental entity liability and police liability. Gary has tried cases in State and Federal courts, and has argued at the trial court and appellate court levels. When Gary’s not working, Gary is an active father of five (four of whom are now adults) enjoys running and collecting rare books.

This will be an in-person only event.

Vegan Entrée: Mushroom Risotto Cake with Roasted Tomato and Asparagus relish and Seasonal Vegetables with Sorbet and Fresh Fruit

All meals served with rolls and butter and A Mixed Greens and Berry Salad with toasted sliced almonds and raspberry vinaigrette. Also included, iced tea and water pitchers on the tables. A coffee and tea station will be in the back of the room.
