The Judicial Appointments Committee helps members become judges on the Arizona Superior Courts. Committee members attend all meetings of the appellate court nominating commission that selects applicants to recommend to the Governor for appointment. The committee keeps notes on comments made about applications received and about interviews of potential nominees. It maintains a list of questions commonly asked and tracks trends in applications and appointments. The committee also provides mock interview opportunities, feedback to interested applicants, arranges regular seminars to educate members about the application, interview and appointment process, and keeps the membership informed about recent vacancies and appointments. When Arizona Appellate court interviews are held in Maricopa County, the committee assists the state-wide Judicial Appointments Committee with attending interviews.
