SPRING MOTHER'S FORUM EVENT

Our next event is outdoors so we can enjoy the weather while it's still nice.  Everyone is invited to meet at Brandi Fenton Park (Alvernon and River Road) on Saturday, March 1st at 10:30 am by the splash pads/playground equipment.  Feel free to pack a lunch or snacks.  There’s plenty of things to do for kids of all ages.

COMMUNITY SERVICE


The community service committee will be collecting hygiene items at the upcoming luncheon for donation to Wings for Women.  Wings for Women collects hygiene items (toilet paper, shampoo, toothpaste, toothbrushes, body lotion, soap, etc.) and they take travel/hotel size and full size items.  They distribute the travel size items at homeless outreach events while the regular size go to the program clients.

Meet up with us prior to the event for drinks and snacks at Feast (just a few blocks east of The Loft) beginning at 5:30, or join us at the Loft at 7:00.  This is a great opportunity to meet and mingle with fellow AWLA members, have a fun time and be entertained, all while supporting terrific women’s causes.


LUNAFEST is a nationally touring film festival that features award-winning short films by, for, and about women. All proceeds benefit WOSAC (Women’s Studies Advisory Council) and the Breast Cancer Fund. Tucson LUNAFEST also features an opportunity for local filmmakers to have their films shown as a kickoff to LUNAFEST. This event will also feature an exciting raffle, offering chances to win jewelry, gift certificates to fine dining and services, and the traditional, handmade, annual LUNAFEST quilt. LUNAFEST was created to raise awareness about women's issues, highlight women filmmakers, bring women together in their communities and raise money for the Breast Cancer Fund. (Tickets: $5 student/ $10 general admission; Raffle Tickets: $5 each or 3 for $10.)
