Presenting the Sarah Herring Sorin Award to the Honorable Patricia K. Norris (ret.), formerly of the Arizona Court of Appeals and to the Honorable Margaret M. (Peggy) Houghton (ret.) formerly of the Pima County Superior Court.
Additionally, this year’s recipient of the Mary Anne Richey Scholarship, which is awarded to first-year law students based upon their demonstrated commitment to public service, will be introduced. This year AWLA will award the Mary Anne Richey Scholarship to student Karen L. Dondererwicz from the James E. Rogers College of Law at the University of Arizona.
Past recipients of the Sarah Herring Sorin Award are the Honorable Patricia Orozco (ret.), Barbara LaWall, the Honorable Ann A. Scott Timmer, Dee Dee Samet, the Honorable Rebecca White Berch, Paige A. Martin, the Honorable Ruth V. McGregor (retired), Amelia Craig Cramer, the Honorable Janis Ann Sterling (ret.), Georgia Staton, Amy Schwartz, Laura Cardinal, Barbara Atwood, the Honorable Mary M. Schroeder, Grace McIlvain, Roxana C. Bacon, Doris Mindell, and Helen Perry Grimwood.
The Scholarship is named in honor of the late Mary Anne Richey, who was a United States District Judge for the District of Arizona and a graduate of the University of Arizona College of Law. For the last few years, the scholarship has been in the amount of $1,000 for each recipient. Since the scholarship’s inception in 1988, it has boosted students' morale and reaffirmed their vision of the law as a public service profession. Contributions to the Scholarship may be made at the Breakfast by credit card or check payable to the Mary Anne Richey Scholarship. Contributions are tax deductible to the extent allowed by law.
To attend the yearly breakfast, you must purchase a separate ticket on the State Bar Convention's registration form in advance. Please register on the State Bar Convention's website and click Event Tickets Only. Tickets are $45 each and must be purchased online before Friday, June 15, 2018.
