Who was Lorna Lockwood? Perhaps her name seems familiar since it is one of the sponsorship levels for the AWLA-Maricopa Chapter Wine and Cheese Reception. But what exactly did she accomplish? Come and learn the incredible story of Lorna, the challenges she faced as one of the few women lawyers in Arizona at the time (before Justice Sandra Day O’Connor), and how she overcame prejudices and stereotypes to become Arizona's first female Chief Justice of the Arizona Supreme Court, the first of only four women who have ever sat on that court. The paths that Lorna blazed are still in place.
Who was Mary Anne Richey? Although AWLA's annual scholarship is named in her honor, where did she practice law and what challenges did she overcome as a woman lawyer in Arizona during her time?
We will also take a look at the current number of women attorneys and women jurists in Arizona and will compare these numbers to past numbers.
In order to receive the pre-paid luncheon price of $20 for members/$30 for non-members/$15 for law students, you MUST pre-pay with your credit card on the website BY THE RSVP DEADLINE. DO NOT MAIL IN CHECKS. If you make a reservation but do not pay on the website with your credit card, you must pay an additional $5 by check or cash at the door ($25 members/$35 non-members/$20 law students). If you cancel after the registration deadline, or do not show up for a luncheon for which you have registered, and you have not paid, you will be billed at the "at the door" price. We pay for the number of meals we guarantee so we must bill you.

There IS such a thing as a free lunch, at least for guests of current AWLA members!

There are limits on availability so don’t delay and make sure you make your request a few days prior to the luncheon RSVP deadline.
Guests are permitted to attend one luncheon for free. Former AWLA members do not qualify for the free lunch.
